Lucky Lucy’s Narrow Escape
(Often, it is only a series of fortuitous events that leads to the discovery of cruelty, and this may well have gone unnoticed had it not been for the chance meeting of rescue workers with an unknown man. In many cases, it is only rescue workers that stand in the gap between cruelty and justice, and it’s time crimes of this nature were given more attention and punished more severely – animalman)
“Andre and I went to the SPCA Wellington as we often do to go donate some doggy biscuits, cat litter and rub some of the doggies. We then left to go to the rubbish dump to desperse of our rubbish when a man stopped us to ask if we had a knife. We wanted to know why, so he said come and look! He hopped into the bakkie with us and we proceeded to underneath the R44 bridge next to the railway line, where Andre and I discovered one of the MOST GRUESOME acts of cruelty that the word CRUEL CAN NOT DESCRIBE! Please read below, her story, I tried to put it in words but it’s so hard for me, I’m in shock too! The pictures will tell you her own story!
The terror and fear in this doggie is unexplainable! Andre cut her loose and gave her to me to hold, we could see some relief as she took another breath, and as he gave her to me, a train roared past OVER THE EXACT SPOT WHERE SHE WAS A MOMENT AGO! How many trains have gone over her before we found her, is hard to imagine as the trauma she must have faced feeling and seeing the train approach her and she couldn’t get away.
We rushed to Marketstreet Animal Hospital where she is presently with our great Vet’s Dr.Du Plessis and Dr.van Deventer and Assistant Nurse Adri, who dropped everything to help stabilise her.
She is a very strong, special girl!
She has to be stabilized for 2-3 days then Andries Venter, Chief Inspectorate of the Good Hope SPCA offered to do further medical remedial operations by their great team of Vets.

After her operation Andre and I will teach her to love and trust a human again. Then when she is healthy, she will show us who her previous owner is, even if it takes us months, we will find the perpetrator and Lucky Lucy will have her justice!

How is little Lucy doing currently?
She is such a stunning little baby and I cannot believe that a human being with a heart could do this to another living being. what an evil piece of scum.
How can anyone be so cruel? This is so WRONG!! I have 3 Foxterriers myself, that face, the pain she must have gone through, oh God, how I wish we could put a stop to animal cruelty! This is just too much, how can a “human” do something like this, it is shocking, horrifying.
That poor poor baby, thank you for saving her!!

How sick can you be to do that to mans bestfriend? dogs are there for you regardless if you have money, smell really bad or are so bad tempered. Whomever did that to Lucy…I hope you get help really soon
To the person who did this. I think you just bought yourself a one way ticket to HELL. Remember, God does not sleep, He saw what you did, and you WILL have to answer to Him one day. Would love to be a fly on the wall to hear what you would say to Him. I cannot believe that a human can do something like that. What ever did that sweet dog do to you that she deserved this kind of behaviour from you? My cats and dogs are my children and believe you me, I go bullistic if someone hurts them. To the man and lady that took her in, thank you so much for people like you that actually does have a heart. May that sweet little dog bring you MUCH MUCH happiness in your life and may she learn from you that not all bad are rubbish.
I have a little dog at home and the enthusiam he greets me with and the love that he gives freely and unconditionally is humbling. All they want is a little love and some food and shelter. That’s all they ask!! How can anyone be so cruel to throw such gits away and in such a barbaric manner. To the ‘angels’ that is changing Lucy’s life … well done! She will give back tenfold and more.
Animal mistreatment has constantly rattled me. It looks like it is getting worse, at least where I live. But there are nevertheless great souls out there who feel like I do that we must take care of them. I hope the judicial system will catch up with our means of thinking about this. It is still treated as a relatively minor offense. That’s wrong.
I’m mortified!
To all those who offered her a home take a look at your local shelter there is the right dog waiting for you.

I just saw the first picture and burst into floods of tears – my little family of dogs rushed in to see what was the matter was – they too are all adopted – they were so concerned to see me so upset.
Find the perpertrator – wire him up to a railway line – see how he squirms when a train approaches and let him lose a limb. Thank God her rescuers were alerted by someone – otherwise it doesnt bear thinking about. This isnt a human being you are looking for but trailer trash – I hope and pray that he is found and gets his just desserts. I am sure that Lucky Lucy is going to have a far happier life and she is certainly going to be much loved.

i echo all the sentiments posted so far. am so, so deeply ashamed to be a member of the homo sapien species. am eternally grateful that this sweet angel has a renewed chance at life and love.
I’m beyond stunned – I know evil is out there, but just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does! Jesus Fucking Christ!! Fortunately for this little girl, a man spotted her and went for help, and two angels saved her. This poor girl, what trauma and fear she must feel!! I hope you find the person that did this to her – he deserves exactly what he gave!!
it is heartbreaking what some lumps of low life that are an excuse for a human can do, if the person is found, then do me a favour and murder that individual, as society does not need this. my lessings and good wishes to a lovely girl, sorry that her puppies died, but hope she gets a good home

If this sadist is not found what will he do next? He must be handed to the animal welfare workers and see if he is so brave then! Sad that this person is such an insignificant individual that he only has the power over a helpless dog, he will clearly never account for anything in life. But the wheel turns and he will get what he deserves but then the coward will cry “why me”

I am in total disgust and shock at who ever did this, horrific, and inhumane, disgusting evil twisted thing to this poor little girl. May your KARMA be as BAD!! YOU VILE EVIL PIECE OF GUTTER TRASH!!! Did you just walk out of the sewers? 5 minutes with me you MAGGOT, and I will show YOU the same respect you showed this poor innocent dog!! You desserve what you will get scumbag!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read this article about 5 or 6 times (but only once completely from beginning to end because it is difficult to read with Niagara Falls coming out your eyes) – I felt quite literally sickened to my stomach when I thought of the hell on earth and the trauma that this little soul went through before she was rescued by the lady that has adopted her, who, I think is an absolute angel in human form, and a hero in my eyes.
Now for the sadist that did this to Lucy – give me a rope and a railway track and just 5 minutes alone with this savage.
