Nkonkobe Animal Care
ARO (Animal Rights Organisation) is trying to assist a tiny welfare group in the Eastern Cape – one lady, one vet and a few volunteers, up against a huge challenge to save hundreds of sick and suffering animals living in the town and surrounding township, informal settlement and local indigent areas. Desperate situation.
I am sure you are aware of the poverty and desperation in the EC. There is presently only 1 vet (in the town) and not even a bakkie. ARO are trying to raise between R60 000 and R80 000 to buy the group a vehicle which can directly help save animals.
The group Nkonkobe is very above board and registered as a NPO. They work in the Fort Hare, Hogsback areas – small rural town and surrounds. There are no salaries paid, the funds would go into a vehicle fund.
As you can imagine, it is near impossible to make any headway with saving animals if there is no proper equipment – especially a vehicle. At the moment, they have to borrow cars to go to a rescue.
