DERDEPOORT PROJECT
(Cilla and Dorette are the kind of ‘let’s do it’ people I admire, and Cilla is always ready, willing and able to make a plan when it somes to the animals…)
We received a plea for help from an informal settlement (low cost housing) nearby Pretoria whose animals are in desperate need to be sterilized, vaccinated, and some furry ones are also in need of minor medical care.
Most of the people in this settlement are taking such good care of their wagging tail companions and love them to bits. Funds for much needed medical/vet expenses are unfortunately extremely limited, with most of the animals not yet sterilized. This has obvious, detrimental implications for the animals as uncontrolled breeding and aggression between the animals are continually on the increase.
Our aim with this project is to educate people and assist them with medical care and sterilization of their 4-legged companions to reduce the number of unwanted litters, etc. (in the long run, this will also assist to curb animal cruelty).
A Veterinarian in the area has already offered his services for the sterilizations and medical assistance at a much reduced fee (±60 cats and dogs need to be sterilized) to assist us in making the project slightly more affordable, for which we are eternally grateful.
The only remaining ingredient required for this desperate project to be viable is funding. We believe a happy and healthy animal most definitely contributes to a happy and healthy family. We subsequently beg for any of the following which will enable us to get this initiative off the ground and finalised as soon as possible.
We need your help with the following to make this project a success:
- Financial donations towards vet bills. All donations can be paid directly into the following account:
Account holder : Animal Support Centre
Bank : FNB Bank
Branch : Rosslyn
Account number : 620 696 74 292
Branch code : 251 745
Reference : Derdepoort project
- Blankets, food, collars, litter sand, etc. – anything the furry companions may find useful J. Wire mesh fencing (or other material) to enclose yard areas properly is also in need (will ensure that animals do not roam).
A paw of gratification will be send to each and everyone who donates as a small gesture to say “thank you” for your kind heart and also believing in this cause. Photographs will also be taken, documenting the project and will be e-mailed to you on regular intervals. We also welcome any suggestions or other help to make this project a success. If you make a donation of any kind, or have any other suggestions to make this project a success, please forward your name and donation made to Dorette: dorette@sagateway.com or fax it to: 012 5485142..
