Making a Dog's Day - Candice Heldsinger,
Hopeful Homer
Everything always goes back to the beginning. When we find
ourselves lost, we go back in time to see where things went
wrong so that we may reflect on our mistakes and change for the
good. Let’s look at the beginning.
God created the beautiful world we live in today. He created the
plants and animals we are trying to protect from extinction. He
created the human beings that we are at war with. God created
this perfect world that we are destroying everyday bit by bit.
Life around you now is filled with hatred, war and poverty when
in the beginning it was filled with love, peace and the richness
of a once pure life. Where have we gone wrong you ask? People
are hurting each other and themselves. The ones who feel the
most pain are our loving and loyal dogs. People abuse their
dogs, keep them in confined spaces and use them in fighting to
gain money.
How many of you know of someone who has moved premises and left
their dog behind? Can you possibly imagine what that poor dog
must be feeling? Having lost this family and is now all alone in
the world, wondering he did wrong. Do you know of someone who
abuses their dog? Did you know that after all the trauma people
put their dogs through; he will still love you –
unconditionally. Show me a fellow human being who would do that.
Show me someone who is always waiting in excitement for you to
come home from work. Someone who you can act like a fool in
front of and you will still be the one they love most. There is
not human being alive who could love like a dog, yet they are
treated so terribly.
One person cannot change the world, but if just one person gives
a dog that has lost his family a home, and you encourage others
to do the same, eventually we can change the world.
You are probably wondering what is the point of changing the
world when you are only one person, but you know what? It makes
a difference to that one dog.
