Answers to questions raised:
Someone asked us yesterday why we use expensive vets instead of taking animals for treatment to the SPCA…… valid question.
There are a few reasons:
- We have built up wonderful relationships with our vets AND they do only charge us SPCA rates (we only use this vets) so we are in fact paying what we would pay at the SPCA.
- SPCA cannot keep up with our volumes of animals we need care for.
- Allot of our animals need specialised care i.e. drips and operations that SPCA’s cannot do and do not offer.
Please rest assured that your donations are not being spent on extravagant vet fees, we are treated as SPCA clients at our selected vets, get the best care and best rates for a service that is irreplaceable.
PIXEL is departing for new home in JHB this evening. We have R600 raised for fuel, please help us get there and back and donate for this very worthy cause. Pixel has been in our care for 2 weeks, and we have had him neutered, vaccinated, medicated and treated for mange etc. He is a brave wonderful boy and going to start a wonderful new life in JHB. Please Help. Our vet, food, housing, sterilisation bills for January are standing over R70 000. We have paid 80% of these bills already with your help. You can tap yourself on the shoulder as you all made this possible. There are many, many happy animals thanks to you.
I challenge you!!!! (Anoux Massey)
Not all animals brought in to welfares, or plainly dumped at welfares have such “nice” lives as our foster animals. Neither do they have all such exposure for adoption.
This year I would like to contact a few welfares around me and get more info on their oldest cats and dogs and the ones who have been there the longest and make it my mission to find them homes. I am willing to adopt one myself too.
Betsie, Bells & Maggie are currently at Stellenbosch Animal Welfare. The welfare has decided that Bestie would not be able to cope in a household environment as there are to many stimuli she is not used to and they feel it would be less traumatic for her to stay where she isL
Bells and Maggie however are household cats and really don’t deserve to be locked up, so PLEASE lets still try to find a nice home for these 2 girls.
Lets spread the word and help these 3 girls find new homes. It will be the most rewarding thing you ever do. So if you can adopt or just spread the word please do so and email me on anouxmassey@gmail.com
I am awaiting pic’s of them
We have started our sterilisation campaign already again and have spayed and neutered over 50 animals in 20 days already. Please help us continue the mission like in 2009 when we did over 1300 animals with your help and contributions.
Sponsor a spay / neuter for a less privileged animal
R200 can save a life and thousands more saved from the offspring they can produce.
To help out, please use our Standard Bank account and put “REF: STERILISE”
Honey & Riley
Semi-feral kittens need a special home or face feral institutionalisation (feral cats in cages) if no one reaches out.
They are rescue kittens, very, very sweet. They are 5 months old. They live inside with their foster mom, but are not keen to be picked up yet, so someone with patience and love needs to help immigrate and settle these two beauties. They don’t have to go together, but they are both face a bleak future if we cannot place them.
Honey is a spayed female, white and tabby.
Riley is un-neutered still, will be done soon and is the tabby male.
Please email me on anouxmassey@gmail.com urgently if you can help them. Please open your home and hearts to one or both of them. Forward to all you know.
Thanks for all the support, more puppies coming in, so keep donating, you are saving lives. IF YOU CAN HELP FOSTER A SMALL BABY DOG, PLEASE CONTACT US URGENTLY, THEY ARE SO SWEET AND INNOCENT AND JUST NEED LOVE AND A GOOD FOOD!
Please help Whitesox!
Whitesox is a healthy and adorable Ridgeback who lost everything that was dear to him. His owner died surprisingly – and since his brother and sister already found a new home, he is very sad and lonely, trying very hard to be good. He needs a new home urgently as the Lady who is sorting the affairs needs to go back overseas next Monday and is desperate to find a loving home for him.
Whitesox is a good watch-dog and affectionate with family members and friends. On a lead he is very obedient – and jogging with him is pure fun. He is not getting on toooo well with dogs he doesn’t know, but would probably be very happy to have companions at home as he is used to that .
TROLLEY collection points –
With the HUGE rise in need of pet food that we are experiencing, we have been offered the suggestion to contact local Pick n Pays and Checkers store, maybe even Spars and to ask them if we can place a trolley at the door with a nice PETS foster on asking for food donations.
Are you prepared to call your local shops and ask?
We will send you a letterhead with our info on and all you have to do is call your nearest stores and ask if you can send them the info, follow up that they have received it and when you have confirmation, you can hand over to us. A few trolleys of food a month will go a LOOOOONG way to help our animals.
Please email anouxmassey@gmail.com and advise if I can send you the info letter.

NB NB!! Change in Mr. & Mrs. PETS Valentine competition:
It seems like we have lost our venue and many people feel it is too far to drive and to make this a viable and financially profitable event, we need to plan the best route of actions.
So….we decided we would still like to go ahead with the competition and we would love to have 2010 animal representatives, AND then it allows for Cat entries too, which was not possible before .
So we miss out on a bit of physical fun, but the year is still long and we will be having many ventures.
To enter your pet in the Valentines competition, all you have to do is send us a pic of your pet, may it be a kitten/puppy/cat or kitten or even an exotic pet. We will ask a R50 entry fee, and then you can automatically choose one category to enter and then R25 per any additional category entries.
